Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 April 2026
This page explains the cookies and browser storage used by synapsyx.com and complements our Privacy Policy .
1 Summary
This site does not use analytics, tracking, or marketing cookies. We do not run advertising, social-tracking pixels, or third-party measurement scripts. The site has no forms, log-in, newsletter, or user-upload features.
Only two categories of data are stored in your browser when you visit:
- Essential hosting cookies placed by our hosting provider GitHub Pages and its CDN Fastly, used solely for technical operation, load balancing, and rate-limiting.
- A single functional
localStorageentry that this site uses to remember your light / dark theme preference.
Because these are strictly necessary or strictly user-initiated, no consent banner is shown.
2 Cookies set during your visit
| Name | Source | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_gh_sess | GitHub Inc. / B.V. | Session handling for the hosting infrastructure | Essential | Session |
_octo | GitHub Inc. / B.V. | Internal request and load metrics for GitHub | Essential | Per cookie expiration |
color_mode | GitHub Inc. / B.V. | GitHub-side theme handling | Essential | Per cookie expiration |
| Cookies set by Fastly | Fastly Inc. (CDN) | Routing, load balancing, rate-limiting | Essential | Session or short-lived |
These cookies are required for the site to be served and protected against abuse. They are set by the hosting infrastructure, not by synapsyx.
Legal basis: legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (technical operation and security of the website).
3 Browser storage used by synapsyx.com
The site itself uses the browser’s localStorage for one purpose only:
| Key | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
synx_v2_theme | Remembers whether you have switched the site to light or dark mode | Functional | Persists in your browser until you clear it |
This entry is created only after you actively click the theme toggle in the navigation. It contains the literal value light or dark and nothing else. It is never transmitted to a server — it stays in your browser.
Legal basis: legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (preserving a user-initiated display preference).
4 Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party content on this site (no YouTube, Vimeo, social-media widgets, comment systems, maps, or chat tools) and we do not load third-party scripts. As a result, no third-party cookies are set when you visit.
5 Managing cookies and storage
You can clear or block cookies and localStorage through your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not affect access to this site beyond resetting your saved theme preference.
Common entry points:
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
